About JR

I have an incurable curiosity about people.
What motivates them. What delights them. What makes them stop, smile, trust, or choose one experience over another. Whether I'm building a brand, designing a campaign, or standing in front of a blank canvas, I begin the same way: by asking questions.
I've spent over 20 years helping organizations tell better stories through design. Along the way, I've collaborated with teams creating work for Fortune 500 companies, startups, government agencies, healthcare organizations, restaurants, and commercial furniture brands. Every industry has taught me something new because every audience sees the world a little differently. Learning those perspectives has become one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
I'm fascinated by the relationship between people, products, and the spaces they inhabit. Great design isn't just something we see. It's something we experience. It creates emotion, builds trust, and quietly shapes how we move through the world. That's the kind of work I strive to create.
When I'm not designing, you'll probably find me exploring a place that's slightly off the beaten path. I prefer wandering local markets over souvenir shops, getting lost in museums, sketching in a café, or discovering the kind of tiny restaurant that has six tables and no English menu. The best ideas rarely arrive on schedule. They usually show up somewhere unexpected.
I'm also an oil painter, which keeps me honest. Painting reminds me to slow down, observe more carefully, embrace happy accidents, and remember that not every great idea starts with a perfectly polished plan.
If there's a common thread running through everything I do, it's curiosity. I believe great design begins with empathy, grows through exploration, and succeeds when it helps people feel something real.
